This Cookie Policy explains how Tidalux Ltd (“we”, “us”) uses cookies and similar tracking technologies when you visit our website or use our services. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by websites you visit. They are widely used to make websites work, work more efficiently, and to provide information to website owners. Cookies can be “session” cookies (deleted when you close your browser) or “persistent” cookies (which remain until they expire or you delete them).
2. Cookies we use
Essential cookies
These are necessary for our website to function and cannot be switched off. They include:
XSRF-TOKEN- a security token so other sites cannot submit forms as you. Session cookie.tidalux-session- staff session when you are signed in to Tidalux Books. Session cookie.tidalux_portal_session- client portal session when you are signed in to your account area. Session cookie.tdx_consent- remembers your analytics cookie choice so we do not ask on every page. Persistent (1 year).tdx_basket- holds a reference to your basket while you are choosing a plan, so it survives a reload or a closed tab. It only ever points back to a basket, never to your account. Persistent (30 days).
Preference storage (localStorage)
Light and dark theme on the marketing site is stored in your browser localStorage, not as a cookie.
Clearing site data removes it. No cross-site tracking is involved.
The same applies to Reader mode and the text size control on our Wavelengths articles (/articles/…):
your choice is remembered in localStorage under tdx-wl-reader and tdx-wl-font-step so it applies the next time you open an article on this browser. No cookie is set, and nothing is shared with us or a third party.
On WaveCheck, if you have already seen the optional "keep this report" prompt, that fact is stored in localStorage under tdx.wavecheck.keepPrompt so we do not show it again on this browser. Nothing is sent to us, and clearing site data removes it.
Functional cookies (optional)
These help us attribute referrals fairly. They are not required for the site to work:
tdx_ref- stores a referral code when you arrive via a partner link so we can credit the right introducer. Persistent (typically 30 days).
Analytics cookies (optional - off until you accept)
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand, in aggregate, how visitors use the site so we can improve it. These cookies are not set unless you choose “Accept” on our cookie banner. Google Analytics 4 does not store your full IP address, and we do not enable advertising or cross-site tracking features (ad storage and ad personalisation are disabled). If you accept, the following cookies are set:
_ga- assigns a random identifier to distinguish visitors so we can measure usage. Persistent (up to 2 years)._ga_<id>- keeps analytics session state for our specific property. Persistent (up to 2 years).
Google acts as our data processor for this analytics. See Google’s
privacy policy
and
data processing terms.
We also set one strictly necessary cookie, tdx_consent, purely to remember your cookie choice (persistent, 1 year).
Marketing cookies
We do not currently use marketing or advertising cookies. If this changes, we will update this policy and request your consent.
3. Third-party cookies
Some pages may include content from third parties (e.g. embedded videos, social sharing buttons) which may set their own cookies. We do not control these cookies. Please refer to the respective third-party privacy policies.
4. How to manage cookies
The quickest control is on this site. Use the Manage cookies link in the footer, or the cookie banner, to accept or reject analytics at any time. Rejecting stops analytics collection and clears the analytics cookies on this browser. Essential and preference cookies are unaffected because they are required for the site to work.
You can also control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to:
- View the cookies that are set and delete individual cookies.
- Block third-party cookies.
- Block cookies from particular websites.
- Block all cookies from being set.
- Delete all cookies when you close your browser.
Note that blocking essential cookies will affect the functionality of our website - for example, you will not be able to stay logged in.
